SALEM, Ore. —The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a meeting of the Beaver Work Group on Tues. Sept. 29 in the Commission Room at ODFW Headquarters, 3406 Cherry Ave. NE, Salem.

The meeting will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Updates will be given on proposed research projects: a landowner incentives survey, the effect of trapping/not trapping on beaver, beaver genetic work and beaver relocation. Funding mechanisms for projects will be discussed.

The goal of the Beaver Work Group is to help improve understanding of beaver ecology and management to maximize the ecological benefits that beaver provide—especially for threatened coast coho salmon—and minimize negative economic or other impacts.

The meeting is open to the public, and public comment will be taken at the end of the meeting.

Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed for individuals requesting assistive hearing devices, sign language interpreters or large-print materials. Individuals needing these types of accommodations may call the Information and Education Division at 800-720-6339 or 503-947-6002 at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
