Weekly Fishing Report
Updated: September 22, 2009This report highlights a few of the best places to fish, what anglers are using and what they are catching. The information is compiled from regional Fish and Game fishery managers, local tackle shops and anglers.
Trout fishing on the main Salmon River is giving many anglers a lot of fun right now. The section between Clayton and Stanley is fishing very well. A hatch of caddis flies is beginning so large stimulators are tempting quite a few trout in both the rivers and streams.
Mountain lakes are still fishing well, but dress warmly for early morning or evening fishing. Bayhorse Lake continues to provide great fishing with anything from flies to dunking worms. Hoppers and other terrestrials are still doing a good job for anglers particularly during mid-day. Upper Bayhorse Lake is closed for logging.
Fall steelhead season on the main Salmon River is now open and will run through December 31. Season limits this fall are a three-fish daily limit with a possession limit of nine steelhead.
Don't forget to check with the tackle shop nearest your fishing destination for bait, tackle, additional fishing tips and information on local fishing waters.
