Fishing in the Salmon Region this Labor Day weekend should be good. River conditions on the main Salmon River are excellent for this time of year with good flows and reasonable temperatures. Cool nighttime temperatures are making morning and evening good times for fishermen.

Fly fishermen fishing the rivers and tributaries are still having good luck with terrestrial patterns. Hopper patterns are proving to be very

successful as are smaller terrestrials such as ants. Spinners and Rapallas are proving to be great for anglers using spin-casting set-ups.

Area lakes are also fishing well. Mackay Reservoir has been great for boaters trolling using both worms and wedding rings. Try worms at the upper end of the reservoir. Mosquito Flats Reservoir was recently stocked with hatchery rainbows. Anglers are reporting success with just about any kind of bait, tackle, or fly pattern! Access to Bayhorse Lake was recently closed due to logging in that area. Check with the U.S. Forest Service for lake access throughout the region.

Don't forget to check with the tackle shop nearest your fishing destination for bait, tackle, additional fishing tips and information on local fishing waters.
