The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) regarding its Hatchery and Stocking Program. The draft report will be released Friday, Sept. 25 and comments will be accepted for 45 days.
The draft EIR/EIS evaluates and discloses the potential effects of the Hatchery and Stocking Program on aquatic resources and the environment. A recent court order required DFG to produce this environmental analysis under the California Environmental Quality Act. It was jointly prepared by DFG and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which provides funding for the inland trout and Mad River steelhead portions of the program,
