2009 Yukon River Fall Salmon Fishery News Release #37 Announcement #25, Tanana River Subdistricts 6A and 6B Subsistence Salmon Fishing 7 Days A Week

Commercial salmon fishing on the Tanana River will conclude 12 noon Wednesday, September 30. Beginning October 1, in accordance with the Tanana River Salmon Management Plan, subsistence salmon fishing will be open 7 days per week for the remainder of the season in Subdistricts 6A and 6B including the Old Minto Area and the Kantishna River.

Subdistricts 6A and 6B (including the Old Minto Area and the Kantishna River): Subsistence salmon fishing will open at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, October 1 and will be open continuously for the remainder of the season.

As a reminder, subsistence salmon fishermen intending to fish in the Tanana River must have a subsistence fishing permit in their possession. Permits may be obtained from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game office in Fairbanks. Also, subsistence fishing gear must be clearly marked with the fisherman’s name and address on the fish wheel, on a buoy attached to set gillnets, or other unattended subsistence fishing gear. If you are done fishing for the season, please return your permit to the Fish and Game office in Fairbanks as the subsistence salmon fishing permits for subdistricts 6A and 6B expire October 15.
