2009 Kuskokwim Bay Salmon Fishery News Release #21 Announcement 19: District 4 and District 5 Commercial Fishing Periods

This is an announcement from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Bethel for Kuskokwim Area commercial salmon fishermen.
District 5, Goodnews Bay, will open to commercial salmon fishing for 12 hours from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009.
Preliminary verbal reports from the commercial period on August 19 in District 4 indicate a harvest of 5,181 coho, 4 Chinook, 77 sockeye, and 66 chum salmon from approximately 75 permit holders. Cumulative harvests through August 19 are 13,990 Chinook, 112,510 sockeye, 91,198 chum, and 42,925 coho salmon.
Preliminary verbal reports from the commercial period on August 19 in District 5 indicate a harvest of 1,991 coho, 5 Chinook, 440 sockeye, and 12 chum salmon from approximately 18 permit holders. Cumulative harvests through August 19 are 1,505 Chinook, 13,501 sockeye, 16,965 chum, and 5,543 coho salmon.
The Department will closely monitor harvest and catch rates from the upcoming commercial period and make further announcements regarding additional commercial fishing periods at that time.
